We've got to wait until next year to see it, but the first trailer for Wolf Man has risen to tease what we've got in store.

The horror reboot of the classic 1941 horror sees director Leigh Whannell – who also wrote alongside Corbett Tuck as well and Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo – tackle his second Universal Monster after the success of 2020's The Invisible Man.

It sees Christopher Abbott and Julia Garner play Blake and Charlotte whose marriage is under strain. Blake persuades her to visit his remote childhood home with their daughter Ginger (Matilda Firth), which he has just inherited following his father's disappearance.

However, when they get there, they're attacked by an unseen animal and forced to barricade themselves for the night. It's not long before Blake starts acting strangely, leaving Charlotte to decide whether the terror inside is more lethal than the danger outside.

Wolf Man also stars Sam Jaeger, Ben Prendergast and Benedict Hardie, while it has been produced by Blumhouse founder and CEO Jason Blum.

The movie was originally set to star Ryan Gosling in the lead role which would mark a reunion with The Place Beyond the Pines director Derek Cianfrance.

However, Gosling and Cianfrance exited the project in December 2023 with Abbott taking over the lead role and Whannell as director. Gosling remained on the movie as an executive producer though.

There is still a reunion on the movie though as Abbott and Garner worked together on Martha, Marcy, May, Marlene which also marked Garner's first-ever movie.

Wolf Man was originally set to be released in October 2024, but back in March, it was pushed back to its current release date of January 17, 2025.

Of course, it's not the first modern reboot of the classic horror movie. The Wolfman was released in 2010 with Benecio Del Toro in the lead role, but it was both a critical and commercial flop.

Let's hope it's second time lucky with Wolf Man.

Wolf Man is released in cinemas on January 17, 2025.
