Watch: Robbers break in through ceiling during daring heist

Two robbers crashed through the ceiling of a cheque-cashing shop in Atlanta before stealing $150,000 (£113,000) in a daring heist.

The pair, whose spectacular break-in was caught on video, are being hunted by police after escaping with stacks of cash from a safe.

Atlanta police believe the masked duo, working with the help of a lookout, cut into the roof with power tools and then dropped through the ceiling into the employee-only area.

The shop, located in an Atlanta shopping centre, is fortified with bank teller-style security barriers intended to thwart robberies.

According to the security video released by Atlanta police, the first of two robbers dropped in from the ceiling at 8.17am on September 3, not long after the shop opened.

Manager Teyoka Glenn was behind the counter and appeared to be startled.

When the first robber dropped down, Ms Glenn told officers, she initially thought he may have been an unfortunate builder as the roof had been undergoing repair work.

The video shows the two robbers forcing Ms Glenn to hide under the counter when a customer enters the shop.

She is then instructed to open the safe before the robbers leave with a duffel bag full of cash via a back exit.

The video shows a confused passer-by closing the door behind the pair after they left.

Police said Ms Glenn was unharmed in the robbery which netted an estimated total haul of $150,000.
