If you're looking for something to brighten up your day, this video of a Labrador Retriever surfing like she's a pro is it! Rosie is a dog who loves the ocean and surfs all over the world. What a lucky girl! Her dad posted a video of the two of the doing what they loves on Sunday, July 13th, and it's a lot of fun to watch!

The video starts with Rosie and her dad on a paddle board getting ready to catch a wave. Once they're riding the wave, Rosie knows what to do and moves around the board just like a professional. Watch to the end because you can definitely see happiness and excitement all over her face!

I like how Rosie's dad says in the caption that Rosie is an 'incredibly skilled surfer' and explains that she really knows what she's doing, "Watch Rosie's right back foot as she stomps it out to lock in for the bottom turn. Then after we make the turn, she relaxes and hangs paw over."

Commenters were just as impressed as I was, and left hundreds of comments. @Lakeside 3D spoke for all of us when they said, "Your dog is way cooler than I could ever be!" @Kristen pointed out, "The lean is everything!! She’s having a blast!" and @Dawhoo added, "Dog lottery winner!!!"

The Incredible Talents of Service Dogs

Rosie might be an epic surfer, but she also is a trained service dog who monitors her dad's diabetes and when his blood sugars are off. The Labrador is trained to smell the chemical changes in her dad's body in relation to the diabetes. In short, she helps keep him alive. She truly is an amazing dog!

Service dogs are trained to help people with disabilities. These disabilities can include visual impairments, people using wheelchairs, PTSD survivors, and people with medical conditions. My cousin has cerebral palsy, and his service dog has given him more independence than he's ever had before. The dogs and their owners are trained to communicate with each other so that the human knows that they need to pay attention to something, for example this little girl's dog alerted her that her blood sugar was low. They're actually like having a best friend and lifesaver all in one.

One of the main ways that a service dog communicates when something is wrong is through nudging. According to The Service Dogs, there's something called 'sensory overload'; basically, it's when too much is going on and someone is experiencing all five senses at the same time, leaving them unable to process it all. This is something that many autistic people experience. In this case, a service dog might nudge to their owner to get them to focus on one thing instead of trying to process everything. Much in the same way Rosie might alert her dad to check his blood sugar levels.

While you should never make the first move to pet a service dog without permission, it's important to know that if a service dog ever nudges you, it's a sign that its owner needs help. If you come across a service dog who nudges or barks at you and they are separated from their owner, follow them immediately! You could literally save someone's life.
