Olly Murs has revealed the surprise moment he was told that his great-grandmother was a trapeze artist, performing while she was four months pregnant with his grandfather.

The Troublemaker singer appeared on The One Show where he shared some of the incredible family discoveries he had made during his forthcoming episode of Who Do You Think You Are?.

Chris and Rosie Ramsey also joined the programme to talk about the one topic that is off limits on their podcast.

Olly Murs signed up for Who Do You Think You Are? so that he could find out more about his unknown great-grandmother - but was stunned to discover what her daredevil job was.

In Friday's episode of The One Show, Murs shared a clip from his forthcoming episode where he is told that she worked as a trapeze artist, and was still performing while four months pregnant with his grandfather.

Murs said: "It was a humbling experience because I thought I was the only Murs that ever had the name in lights but clearly before me there was this incredible circus show that my family were involved in.

"My dad, since my grandad died, has wanted to find out more information about his mum because they lost contact. You'll see that in the show, I don't want to give too much away, but he left Latvia at a very young age, she said goodbye to him, and it goes on from there really. She was the black sheep of the family really, we knew nothing of her...It was very emotional."

The singer is also preparing to go on tour to celebrate his 15-year career since finding fame on The X Factor and will be joined by Blue, who were his idols as a teenager.

He said: "My dad said, 'I used to see you at 17 singing that song in the mirror, I can't believe you've got them on tour'. They've been a real part of this journey for me so it's really fitting they're on it.

"I tried to book them for my wedding, actually, we couldn't quite get it to work. They're just as mad as I am so I think it's going to be quite a fun tour."

He also had big news for fans, adding: "Yes, there is going to be new music. That's pretty much hot off the press, I haven't really spoke about it. So much has happened in my life, I've become a dad this year. I've got new music to write, we're going to start doing it over the next couple of months in time for the tour."

Comedian Chris Ramsey and his wife Rosie also appeared on The One Show where they opened up on the subjects that make it into their hit podcast - and the one topic that is off limits.

Chris admitted: "A fresh, raw, real argument is off limits for at least two weeks. But I'll have written it down in my notes and two weeks later I'll have got my courage up and I'll say we've got to do this one on the podcast. It's like therapy really." Rosie agreed: "It is, it's cathartic."

Talking about sharing their real-life arguments, Chris said: "It becomes a joke and it's out there and it's fine." Rosie added: "You can look back on it and realise that you were in the wrong. Which I hate."

The One Show airs on BBC One at 7pm on weekdays.
