Orange Cat Grooves to the Beat While Listening to Jazz with His Mom

This is one cool cat. The internet is going crazy over an orange cat with a very sophisticated music taste. Not everyone can appreciate jazz like this cat does. Yeah he's a tastemaker. He really gets the music, ya' know?

Steve is a music aficionado. Don't believe us? Just take at the cat appreciating the finer things in life in an adorable video online.

Steve was really feeling the jazz music in the clip his owner shared. It was like the perfect listening experience. The orange cat was being held by his mama while the jazz played in the background. We wonder what he was thinking? He certainly liked what he was hearing judging by the expression on his face.

"Oh my god," said a woman from behind the camera. The woman really captured what Steve's internal monologue must sound like. "Squinting. Slow jazz. Bouncing on mom's shoulder. God, that's good."

Steve really did seem like he was enjoying the moment.

"A recipe for relaxation," his owner joked in the video's caption.

Steve's morning jazz session was absolutely paw-fect. "THIS CAT’S COOKIN,'" one person wrote. "Steve is livin his best, bounciest, jazziest life," someone else praised. "That baby knows not one thing about stress, so content and loved!" another commenter gushed. "He says this music is his jam," commented someone else.

Steve Is a Music Lover

It might seem unusual for a cat to love music, but it shouldn't be. Cats do appreciate music — not in the same way that humans do, mind you. They aren't going to rock out to Metallica or AC DC.

Cats don't experience joy from music like we do. They're mostly indifferent to it. Because of their more advanced hearing, cats can hear sounds at higher and lower frequencies. So they might not necessarily like music that's too loud. Even classical music might be too much for a cat! But they do benefit from music that calms and relaxes them. Which can be any genre.

As for Steve, he seems to be the exception. The cat really likes it when his mom plays certain songs. He even likes Rihanna! Which another video on his page shows.

Well he did until the end of the video, when he attacked his mama. But we bet that has more to do with the booty pats she was giving him than RiRi.

It's all to say that Steve has range! He was digging the latest jazz album just as much as he likes listening to pop. Does someone have Steve's Spotify account? We need to see his playlists.
