Pomeranians Attempt to ‘Attack the Pool’ and It’s Cracking Everybody Up

If you have a pool in your backyard, you might have a hard time keeping your water-loving dogs away from it. But what if your dogs don't actually like the pool and even try to 'attack' it? Chris has two Pomeranians who have a grudge against their backyard pool, and he showed them attacking it in this video that he posted on Friday, September 6th. It'll crack you up!

The video starts by showing the dogs running up to the pool's edge, where water pumping into the pool creates a little fountain of bubbles. Apparently, the dogs are not fans of this, and quickly start barking at the bubbles. One of the dogs is so busy trying to attack the bubbles that they even fell into the pool! Make sure your sound is on so you can hear that they really mean business!

Chris' video made me laugh, and I watched it a handful of times because it got funnier each time I watched it! The dog that fell in the pool didn't even miss a beat and went right back to attacking the pool once they got out. @Commenter City Girl noticed that too, "“And another thing”, after the 3-day struggle getting out the pool. LOL!" and @Ricklepick added, "He probably thought the water threw him in the pool lol!" @Talili pointed out, "I think the pool won." I laughed when @Angelica said, "His little hype man cheering him on after he got back out. “Bite that water!!!" LOL!"

Can All Dogs Swim?

While it's clear that Chris' Pomeranian seemed comfortable in the water, swimming doesn't come naturally for all Pomeranians. They can learn to swim and even enjoy it, though they should be closely monitored the entire time they're in the water. All About Poms explains more, "Being small-sized toy dogs with fluffy coats they are not known for being great swimmers. Of course, each dog is different, and some will swim better than others but, overall, as a breed Pomeranians are not good swimmers, " they go on to note, "Pomeranians do not have the strength and stamina that are needed" to be strong swimmers. Their heavy coats can weigh them down, making drowning a significant danger and concern while in the water.

The AKC says that depending on the breed, dogs might be naturally drawn to the water, or swimming may be challenging. Take English Bulldogs for instance. Because of the way their body is shaped, they can't swim on their own, but they can learn how to swim with a life jacket on. Or my dog, a Pit Bull mix. Pitties generally like the water, but my dog doesn't like it at all!

If you happen to have a dog who is not a strong swimmer but loves the water, it's better to be safe than sorry. Always make sure someone is monitoring their activities and, better yet, make sure that they wear a life jacket. Then, hop in the pool with them and have some fun!
