Some dog rescues specialize in saving animals that are on the euthanasia list at high kill shelters. One of these rescue groups out of Florida recently saved 12 elderly Chihuahua and Chihuahua mix dogs that were at risk of being put to sleep.

Just check out these beautiful pups and how they were cared for after they were picked up.

The beautiful video was shared by the TikTok account for @HaleyHarrett and everyone has fallen in love with the sweet dogs. One person said, "They’re going to be so happy!" Another added, "You guys are awesome for taking care of senior dogs. Bless you!" Someone else said, "They are too cute for words. Thank you so much for saving these precious babies."

This doesn't just happen in Florida, and shelters all over the USA have many elderly dogs that need a home because so many times people want to adopt younger dogs and puppies and don't even consider giving an older dog a home. But there are so many wonderful reasons to give a senior dog a home.

Reasons to Give a Senior Dog Their Happily Ever After

Sometimes an elderly dog is surrendered because their owner sadly passes. Sometimes it's because their owner can no longer care for them after they have had to move to an assisted living facility. And sometimes it's because the owner no longer wishes to care for an elderly dog that may be suffering from medical issues. These are all the reasons why it's so important that senior dogs find a loving, forever home.

Senior dogs deserve to live out their golden years before they cross the rainbow bridge in a home full of all the love and care they deserve. Many dogs don't do well in shelters, and a dog who has lived all their life with one owner only to be surrendered may have a more difficult time with kennel stress. Adopting a senior dog means you will be freeing up kennel space for another deserving pet to find a home.

Finally, senior dogs are so loving and grateful and have a lot of life left to live. If you are interested in adopting a senior dog, please check with your local animal shelter or humane society.
