August is such a sad month. It feels like the end of summer and for many people, August marks the time when they send their kids off to college. In one family, it wasn't mom who was feeling the sting of letting her baby go. It was the family's pet rabbit that seemed to having a hard time.

It just goes to show that animals always seem to know when change is happening.

The bunny's owner noticed that something was up in a video she shared online.

"Y'all I think my son's rabbit knows he's getting ready to leave for college," she said in the footage. "Because this is his play area where he spends most of his time. But lately he's been hanging out in the hallway."

The camera panned over to the bun, who was planted right in front of his human brother's room.

"He never hangs out in that hallway," she added. "He knows something is up."

"My son's rabbit is...dare I say...sad that my son is leaving," the mom added in the caption.

People in the comments section were cracking up. "He's trying to figure out how to get in that suitcase," joked one person. "My daughter’s turtle was the same," someone else added. "The stomps that he’s gonna stomp when your son leaveeees! He’s gonna be mad, he’ll get over it though. He’s adorbs btw!" someone else praised. "Our three dogs follow me around and yesterday all three spent the day in my daughter’s room moping. She left yesterday to go to college," added one person.

Helping Your Rabbit With Separation Anxiety

It doesn't seem like rabbits can get sad, but they can. In fact rabbits can even feel separation anxiety, which is why some of them get really stressed when there's a change in the house.

If your bunny is showing signs of separation anxiety there are ways to ease their minds. If you leave for work in the morning, raise your blinds a little to get their circadian rhythm going. The natural light can really help.

Make sure to feed your rabbit at the same time severy day. That consistency can really help relieve a rabbit's stress. Give them a little breakfast before leaving for the day and feed them dinner after coming home for the day.

Keeping your bunnies busy can really be helpful too. A toy or task that keeps your bun occupied will get them mentally engaged and will let out extra energy they might have.

Any animal feels it when a human leaves the home. But that probably just means that they were so well-loved.
