Seattle Shelter Pittie Would Rather Cuddle Than Play and Anyone Would Be Lucky to Have Him

Anyone who's rescued a dog will go on and on about how adopting a pet changed their life. Whether they're a first time dog owner or an experienced rescuer, there's nothing quite as special as building a bond with a rescue dog. When they begin to trust you, they'll show you love like you've never experienced before!

If you ask the animal adoption advocates at the Seattle Animal Shelter, happy boy Jax is the perfect example. He's not a fan of spending long hours in his kennel, but his entire demeanor changes as soon as someone takes him outside! On July 18, his shelter friends filmed his playtime in the shelter's fenced-in yard, but this social pup was more interested in getting petting and cuddles!

What a precious dog! Jax's big brown eyes and squishable snout could enchant any new friend, so why hasn't he been adopted yet? Jax clearly loves spending time with people, but his low energy and 'sad boy look' often get him overlooked in the shelter. Maybe things would change if this handsome Pit Bull could meet potential adopters outside of the kennel! If his direct eye contact doesn't seal the seal, the way he melts into a cuddle definitely will.

"He’s so beautiful with those smooshy cheeks and sweet eyes," gushed commenter @pseudonym. "I would definitely cave and cuddle with him through all of recess." You and me both! I'm happy to see that he has friends who understand his gentle, lazy nature while he's still at the animal shelter, but nothing will be better than finding him a home where he can lounge about with a BFF.

Jax is seven years old and a perfect 'middle-aged gentleman.' His rescuers say that he enjoys walks and sniffing around, but it couldn't be any clearer that he loves time with friends and family more than anything else.

Rescuing an Older Dog

Sometimes, dogs like Jax wait a lot longer to get adopted because of their age. At his age, this handsome Pit Bull is technically considered to be a senior dog, but if you ask him, he has no idea what you're talking about. He enjoys his leisurely lifestyle and cuddle time, but he still has the mind and heart of a pup.

In fact, this is the case with many senior rescue dogs! Even though they may be older and even have different needs, they are just as loving and personality-filled as any other adopted dog.

Some people are afraid to adopt a senior dog because they don't want to say goodbye anytime soon. It makes sense in theory, but your time with an older rescue dog could be even more meaningful and special than you imagined.
