Shepherd Mix Puppy Adopted and Returned at Just 7 Months Old Just Wants to Be Loved

If I could help it, rescue dogs would all have forever homes lined up to receive them. No pet would ever go hungry or cold, and animal shelters would hardly be needed. Sadly, though, this isn't reality. There are dogs and cats in all corners of the world who need rescuing, and Hurricane from Southern California is no exception. This sweet and silly puppy is full of fun-loving energy, so why hasn't he been adopted yet?

At just 7 months old, Hurricane has been rescued from a shelter, fostered, adopted, and then returned to rescue. He's much better off than he would be in a busy public shelter, especially near Los Angeles, but he's still in search of a truly dedicated forever family. Could that family be yours?

It's no surprise that commenters are gushing over the lanky puppy and his sad story. Viewers are practically begging for someone to adopt him! His puppy energy and kind demeanor are charming people left and right, and it's only a matter of time until he charms the socks off his future adopters. It's bound to happen soon!

This Shepherd-mix dog has remained totally resilient despite getting his hopes up regarding his original adopter. As you saw in the video, he likes to make the most of each moment whether he's riding in the car with his head out the window or meeting a new friend at an adoption event.

When a Dog Returns to Rescue

According to Hurricane's previous adopter, they decided to return him to the rescue because they could no longer take care of him. Whether or not this is the truth, there's no doubt it put a dent in the rescue dog's self-confidence. Going to a new home is overwhelming on its own, but having to come back to the rescue has to be difficult.

"Please do not return dogs," commenter @amandacassidy04 reprimanded. "Remember, they need time to adjust and get used to routines." That's true! Adoption experts recommend that new pet owners follow the 3-3-3 rule, which explains how long it can take for an adopted pet to become fully comfortable in their new home.

It might take 3 whole days before a rescue pet feels safe enough to begin exploring their home and coming out of their shell. It takes about 3 weeks for a new pet to get the hang of routines and some basic training, but you may not start seeing their true self until the 3-month mark. It's normal!

Whoever adopts Hurricane will need to be equipped with lots of patience, but there's no doubt that his perfect person is waiting just around the corner.
