Smiling German Shepherd Auditions for ‘Jaws’ Movie and Totally Nails It

We all enjoy teaching our pets to do funny things, like doing silly tricks or making funny faces. Django is a German Shepherd known for his ridiculous (and adorable) smile. His mom posted his latest smile on Instagram in mid-June, and I bet you can't watch the video without smiling yourself!

The video starts with Django wearing a costume that looks like a shark. Mom says he's ready to audition for Jaws as Django patiently waits for his turn. Make sure you turn your sound on because every time mom mentions a shark, Django turns into Jaws!

Mom taught Django an awesome trick, and he would totally get the role of Jaws if they were looking for a landshark! Commenters also got a kick out of the video. @im.starbuck wasn't wrong when they said, "This shark is better than 99.9% of the actors/actresses in Hollywood today. LOL!" @amarieseas shared, "The panting only adds to the FEAR!! Cast this kid!"

Can Dogs Really Smile?

Django is internet famous for his huge smile, but do dogs really smile? If you have a fur baby of your own, you know that dogs can definitely smile when they're happy or excited. And while it's true that dogs don't smile the way that humans do, they definitely can show their expressions of happiness and joy.

Purina has this to say on the subject, "Dogs can make their faces appear to smile. This happens when they open their mouths and pull back their lips, letting their tongues lap over their teeth. This “dog smile” usually occurs in situations when they are relaxed and appear happy." Purina goes on to say, "These “dog smiles” also often occur in response to a human smile, which is a phenomenon called laughter contagion. Dogs may appear to smile because we smile at them." And we smile because they smile at us! It's a never-ending cycle of happiness!

PetMD also weighed in on dog smiles and shared that dogs are masters at reading body language, and that they know that when they smile it makes us happy. "They also know that our happiness often means extra attention, treats, and fun time for them. Not only do they like making us happy, but they like how we treat them when we are happy!" More proof about just how intelligent dogs really are!

Want to try to get a smile out of your dog? Extra cuddles and attention will always get you a smile. Come into the room and act like you are over the moon to see them again and that will automatically guarantee you a smile from your pooch. Treats of course always do the trick, too. Playing a game that they love to play (our puppy could play tug-of-war all day) or try taking them on an extra-long walk. Just like with people, it's always the little things that make us so happy. And when your dog smiles, I dare you not to smile right back at them!
