Dogs may love their humans, but don't underestimate the love that people have for their pets. Our affection for dogs is real. So much so that there's a Dog Chapel in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. This place is special and one man's visit to the landmark has people tearing up online.

We don't know if Matthew even knew what he was walking into when he went to visit the chapel. Nothing could have prepared us for how exceptional it would be.

From the moment the video starts, we can tell we're seeing something amazing. The footage shows a quick tour of the space, which is open to "all breeds, all creeds," of people.

The chapel is perfect for both man and pups to explore. There are pews for sitting and statues of dogs scattered about the room. The walls are littered with handwritten tributes from humans to their dogs, most of whom have probably passed.

"Dogs have a soul," a sign by the door reads.

The clip is so emotional. People in the comments section were touched. "A room full of best friends," wrote one person. "This is humanity at its most tender," someone else noted. "I bet the love is palpable in that room. Truly beautiful," chimed in another commenter. While many people chimed in that they've paid a visit to the chapel and left a note or momento for their pup. "My dog is on the wall there. RIP Phoebe, the bestest girl!" one person added.

More About Dog Mountain

If you're a dog person, you have to pay a visit to the chapel. In fact, the installation is part of Dog Mountain, a 150-acre property dedicated to the "healing power of 'dogs, nature, love, and art,'" per the website. The property is also a testament to its creator, artist Simon Huneck.

Huneck and his wife Gwen first bought the property in 1995 and pretty soon after Huneck had the idea for Dog Mountain. The exhibit officially opened in 2000 and has been open to humans and dogs ever since. The land has remained untouched since Huneck bought it, meaning that there are scenic hiking trails and dog ponds you and your dog can traverse.

Even better, leashes are optional at Dog Mountain. So if your dog wants to run, jump, and frolic, that's allowed.

It really is a special space for pets. Or as the exhibit themselves notes, "Dogs are not just welcome here, they are cherished."
