Tucked into a corner of Hartville is the Woodlands development.

There, on a single street, building companies are working to construct seven different homes. Soon, those homes will be decorated, landscaped and open to the public for the 2023 Parade of Homes.

This year marks the 59th edition of the Building Industry Association of Stark & East Central Ohio’s Parade of Homes, a showcase of all the latest home trends. The event runs from Sept. 16 to Sept. 24.

Anyone and everyone is welcome to walk through the homes to view aspects of design, décor, landscaping and technology.

“The overall goal for our Building Industry Association is to provide an event that puts our best foot forward and shows consumers in a five-county area the latest and greatest in residential construction,” said Joe Race, the executive director of the BIA of Stark and East Central Ohio.

Race said the event is for all generations of homeowners – from first-time buyers to empty nesters.

What to expect at the Parade of Homes

All seven newly built homes located on the same street will be displayed open-house style. Attendees are welcome to walk down the street and through the homes.

“As they're walking through, the houses will have various entertainment and programming going on as well,” said Race.

Race aid to expect charcuterie, desserts, wines, cooking demonstrations and musicians.

The event will also feature themed days, including Dessert and Coffee Day and Pumpkin Day.

Who are the participating builders?

Race says the event will be particularly helpful to anyone interested in building a custom home. They can see local building companies' work firsthand.

The Parade of Homes will feature homes built by six different companies: Grisez Homes, Hostetler Family Homes, Lawver Construction, Patrick Long Homes, Rea Custom Homes and Vega Construction.

The event is made available to all 50 building associates of the BIA of Stark & East Central Ohio. Builders who decide to participate chose a lot and begin to build a home. Construction will be finished by Sept. 16.

All the homes will feature trends in design and architecture.

Homes on display for sale

All seven homes are available for purchase and are expected to sell quickly. In fact, Race said one is already under contract.

The prices of the homes range from $550,000 to $800,000 and come in a variety of different architectural styles, including a traditional ranch or two-story home.

The Woodlands development is located off Woodland Street Southwest between Prospect Avenue and Market Avenue South near Lake Local Schools, the Stark Library branch and other family-oriented amenities.

Ideas and inspiration

According to Race, attendees can find inspiration for their own homes while staying up-to-date on the latest trends in home design and construction.

“It’s so easy to do all on one street,” Race said. “It’s not like you have to drive all around the country to see this.”

The homes feature new, programmable and energy efficient technology from refrigerators to washers, dryers, ovens and cooktops.

“People will be surprised at all the things that appliances can do now,” Race said.
