Harry Kane trains in special pair of golden boots ahead of 100th England cap
Harry Kane marked his imminent century of England caps by sporting a pair of golden boots at training on Monday morning.
The Bayern Munich striker will become the tenth England player in the centurion club when he captains the side against Finland in the Nations League on Tuesday evening at Wembley. The Football Association will mark the occasion with a pre-match ceremony that will include the presentation of a golden cap.
Kane was all smiles at former club Tottenham’s training ground as he was put through his paces along with his England team-mates and was spotted in a pair of golden boots.
“It comes round quick; it’s been an incredible journey so far as an England player,” Kane told the BBC.
“I think to reach these landmarks is something I am extremely proud of - 100 caps is not easy to do.”
He is England’s all-time top scorer with 66 goals in 99 appearances across a nine-and-a-half year international career, which began in March 2015. Kane is the first player to become an England men’s centurion since Wayne Rooney reached the milestone in November 2014.
The 31-year-old has played in more games at major finals than any other Englishman (28) and has played in more competitive matches (83) for his country than any other senior men’s international.
The Football Association also confirmed there will be a tribute to former manager Sven-Goran Eriksson before kick-off after he passed away aged 76 last month.
