There's just something about animals that are a little chubby right? They're sort of extra cute! The Peterborough Humane Society in Canada is hoping to find a "substantial" cat in their care a home. Minnie is a Calico cat who, yes, is a little chunker. But she's the loveliest little kitty too.

Of course, everyone wants Minnie to be healthy. But we must admit she was pretty darn charming in a video shared online.

The Calico cat toddled out of her carrier to see what all the hubbub was about when a cat rescuer came to visit. She was definitely a little overweight, but she was friendly! She greeted the woman quickly and really enjoyed the attention.

"I hear there is a big lady in here I need to come and see," the woman said in the clip. "You are a big lady. Yes, you are...substantial, my love. Yes, beautiful," she added.

At 27 lbs. Minnie is too heavy, so if she were to be adopted, she will need an owner who can carefully monitor her diet.

The comments section was in love with Minnie. "Substantial? Nope, that's 'Oh Lawd, she comin,'" joked one person, referring to a popular internet meme. "Her coat is gorgeous tho, so girl must look after herself," someone else pointed out. "The next time I describe myself it’s gonna be 'I’m substantial,'" joked one commenter. "This is how I want my doctor to talk to me about my weight," added another person.

Helping Your Cat Lose Weight

For cats to be happy and healthy they need to maintain a certain weight. For one, it makes getting around easier, and unfortunately for cats being overweight is almost assuredly going to result in serious health conditions like type 2 diabetes, heart disease, osteoarthritis, joint injuries, high blood pressure, and some forms of cancer.

There are lots of reasons why your cat put on weight in the first place, it might not just be overeating. Have your vet perform a physical first to see if there are any underlying health issues. Your vet then can help you look at which options are suitable for your cat. Not all weight loss cat food is made the same. Some can be used concurrently with other conditions, which is again why you want to consult a vet before changing your cat's diet.

While some cat or dog foods might market themselves as helping weight loss, it should be noted that there's no over-the-counter weight loss food for pets. Some people might even try restricting their pet's food intake, but you don't want to do that because it can result in nutrition deficiencies.

Getting your pet to lose weight is tricky. It takes a lot of dedication as a human. But it's worth it to give your pet a happy, healthy, long life.
