Tiny Ragdoll Kitten's Curious 'Inspection' of Golden Retriever Is Downright Precious

I’m often surprised by the bravery of kittens. They are so tiny and delicate, and yet they seem to think they are as mighty as tigers. From catapulting off high shelves to courageously taking a leap into a river to join a free-diving expedition, these baby cats have some serious chutzpah. Here a Ragdoll kitten barely as big as the dog’s ear is checking out his giant Golden Retriever sister. Her size may intimidate him, but he’s not going to let a little thing like fear hold him back, Not when he’s got the world’s tiniest hiss to help him out.

And we do mean tiny. Don’t even bother turning up the sound.

In this video a little Ragdoll kitten named, appropriately, Knight, is testing out his bravery by approaching his big sister, a senior Golden Retriever by the name of Lucy. When last we checked in with Knight, he was taking an unexpected swim in a kitty drinking fountain, so for sure this cat is going to grow up to be a real handful.

The kitten takes slow, uncertain steps towards the dog’s head a she is lying on the floor, opening his mouth in a miniature, soundless hiss. He’s not quite there yet with the entire catalog of kitten noises.

But as soon as Lucy lifts her head, it’s over, as Knight may be brave, but is certainly not foolhardy. And Lucy has obviously been around the block with kittens too, and decides to remove herself from the equation and go somewhere this baby is not.

“Poor Lucy,” says an observer in the comments. “She's like, ‘Why is this fluffy little gray marshmallow mad at me? What did I do?’”

Kittens and Dogs

Introducing your kitten to a calm, friendly dog like Lucky is actually an important part of the socialization process. If you want the cat to grow up being dog-friendly and able to live in a house with dogs, it’s important that they understand that these other, much larger animals exist, and the proper way to interact with them. Cats and dogs can actually get along just fine, they simply need to learn about each other in a safe and supervised environment, like the one shown here.

Lucy is clearly a cat-friendly dog, who knows exactly how to behave around a helpless little kitten like Knight.

“Lucy is the perfect dog to have around kittens,” says someone in the comments. “She’s so chill.”

The Friendliest Breeds of Cats and Dogs

Knight is a Ragdoll cat, a fluffy, long-haired breed of cat specifically designed to be good-natured and good with families. And Lucy is a Golden Retriever, one of the most popular breeds of dogs and one that is prized for its gentle nature and sweet personality. Together, they are broadly considered to be the best type of cat and dog for families and children because they are both so gentle and good-natured.

However, just because the breeds are supposed to be kind, each individual cat or dog comes with its own personality, and it’s important to train and socialize the animals if you want the best result.
