Toy Poodle Throws Toddler-Like Fit When Human Tries to Remove Pacifier From Her Mouth

We've said it once and we'll say it a thousand times over, dogs are babies. Well, they're like babies. But a new video online takes that sentiment to a whole new level. Nala and Lilo are the cutest Toy Poodles, but Mom has learned a serious lesson about messing with them after one of her pups found a pacifier and wouldn't give it up.

These dogs are all about their paci. Just take a look at a video their owner shared online.

The clip from the @lilpoodles has us really cracking up. It shows one of the Toy Poodles sucking away on the pacifier. When Mom tried to gingerly take it out of their mouth, they put their little paw up and moved her hand away. The woman tried again to get the pacifier out of her dog's mouth and again the dog batted her hand away. Hmmm, something tells us that the Poodle wasn't ready to take the pacifier out of their mouth just yet.

"Toy poodles = toddlers," their mom joked in the caption.

Commenters couldn't stop laughing. "She said, 'Now I'm going to tell you this once, don't you ever reach for my pacifier...' As she moves your hand," joked one person. "The other dog was staring like, 'what is wrong with you?'" another commenter teased. "Ok so the majority of Toy Poodles act like this….. I thought mine was broken," added another person. "It be so funny when pets pet their paws on your hands like 'aht aht move these crust hands' I just be like 'the audacity,'" one commenter agreed.

A second video on the page shows that both dogs are sort of into their pacifiers.

Too cute!

Why Do Dogs Like Pacifiers?

It's actually not so strange to see a dog chewing on a pacifier. It might be jarring at first, but look around and you'll notice that dogs of all breeds have been known to chew on the baby tool. It's actually become sort of a trend.

For their part, dogs see pacifiers as a source of comfort. Sort of like human children who suck on their thumb or carry around a security blanket. But unlike children, dogs won't outgrow this and they can end up using a pacifier for life. Puppies are, in general, oral explorers. So they sometimes use pacifiers as a way to comfort themselves the same way they would when weaning.

Not everyone agrees with letting dogs use pacifiers. So if you're really curious, talk about it with your vet. They'll give you a better idea if it's a good idea for your pup.
