Woman Shares the One Hilarious Downside of Having a Black Cat
Have you ever been chatting away to your pet only to realize they weren't in the room with you? That's happened to all of us. Well black cat owners have a similar problem, as one cat mama explained in a hilarious video online.
The cat mom has two animals, Eleanor and Theodore. But it's only Theodore that gives her this particular problem.
Call it a symptom of having a black cat. As the cat mama showed, her cat Theodore sometimes blends in with his surroundings. In fact he sometimes looks like a shirt or shorts on the floor, leading to a lot of confusion.

The clip shows the woman greeting a small black creature on the ground...until she looks up and realizes that whoops — it's a shirt.
"Having a black cat means occasionally accidentally talking to the black shorts on your floor," she explained in the video's text overlay. It's understandable. Consider her not judged by us one bit.
"Happens to the best of us," she joked in the caption.
People in the comments section couldn't judge the mom either. "Not him looking back at you like you lost your mind," joked one person. "'I’d know my cat anywhere' I tell the black bag in the corner," someone else teased. "'I see you hiding!!!! I see you!' I say to my black purse under my desk," another commenter joked. While someone else recently had their own moment of panic due to a black cat's fur color. "I was terrified cause I thought my mom's purse was one of my two black cats but it was in a weird position so I thought it was dying. Nope, [it] was a bag," they shared.
Black Cats Use Their Coats for Camouflage
There's a good reason why this cat mama might get a little confused from time to time. Black cats actually use their dark fur color to cloak themselves when hunting at night! That's pretty cool. Although if your cat is more of an indoor pet that might just mean getting your cat confused with a pile of dirty laundry. So you shouldn't feel bad if you get a little mixed up.
The mom later shared a clip where she showed how she decided to remedy this little problem: bowties. Lots and lots of bowties.
"When you and a pair of shorts go viral because your mom couldn't tell you apart," the video's text overlay.
"Put the bowtie on him so theres' no confusion," she added.
Well that's one way to fix the problem.
